This collection of the Lives of Scottish Saints is drawn from a variety of sources. They include
'stories' of the saints which may not be totally based on facts ... but they are part of a long tradition.

He spent time as a hermit on the Bass Rock and became known as the Apostle of East Lothian
6th March - St Cadroe, Abbot (AD 937)
Connected with the royal family of Strathclyde he spent most of his life in England and France.
8th March - St Duthac, Bishop (AD 1068)?
A holy Saint, buried in the church on the shore in Tain - Gaelic for Baile Dhuich (Duthac’s Town).
10th March - St Failhbe, Abbot (AD 745)
Failhbe was one of the abbots of lona and ruled for seven years, where he died aged 70.
11th March - St Constantine, King and Martyr
(AD 590)
a king in Cornwall, went on to found a monastery at Govan where he's buried.
12th March - St Indrecht, Abbot and Martyr
(AD 854)
was the twenty-first Abbot of lona, and was martyred by Saxons on his way to Rome.
12th March - St Fechno, or Fiachna, Confessor
(AD 580)
Fechno was one of the twelve disciples who accompanied St Columba to Scotland.
12th March - St Finan, Abbot, (AD c. 575)
St Finan The Leper is said to have taken the Gospel to parts of Argyllshire, in the district of Glen Finan.
16th March - St Charmaig (AD c. 640)
St Charmaig is honoured in the Hebrides, Argyllshire, Caithness and other parts of Scotland.

16th March - St Boniface or Curitan, Bishop
(8th cent)
Bishop of Ross, where the Cathedral at Fortrose was subsequently named in his honour.
17th March - St Patrick, Bishop (AD 493)
Many believe that Patrick was born in Scotland, at Kilpatrick on the Clyde, near Dumbarton.
18th March - St Finian or Finan, Bishop
(AD 660)
founded churches in Aberdeenshire - Lumphanan, Migvie, Dunscroft and Abersnitack.
18th March - St Comman (AD 688)
St Comman was the brother of St Cumine, Abbot of lona, Kilchoman on Islay takes its name from h.
20th March - St Cuthbert, Bishop (AD 687)
Born of Saxon parents in Northumbria with many churches dedicated to him in Scotland.
22nd March - St Finian, Wynnin, or Frigidian, Bishop (AD 579) Studied with St Ninian at Candida Cassa and remembered at Kilwinning.
30th March - St Olaf or Clave, King and Martyr (AD 1030) Olaf, just and brave ruler, became a Christian at an early age and died as a martyr.

1st April - St Gilbert, Bishop (1245)
St Gilbert was the last Scot to be honoured as a Saint before the Reformation.
4th April - St Gonval (824)
Conval was a good king who was an example of piety and who showed respect for the Church.
3th April - St Macceus or Mahew (c. 460)
A disciple of St Patrick who spent the greater part of his life on the Isle of Bute.
16th April - St Magnus, Martyr (1116)
Magnus, known for his piety and gentleness is venerated as the patron saint of Orkney.
17th April - St Donnan and Companions, Martyrs (617) Donnan and his monks were martyred on Easter Day on the Island of Eigg.
18th April - St Laserian or Molio, Abbot (639)
Laserian lived a life of sanctity and solitude on the island of Lamlash, off the coast of Arran.
21st April - St Maelrubha, Abbot (722)
Maelrubha was known for his sanctity throughout the west coast of Scotland and the islands.
25th April - St Cunibert, Bishop (699
Cunibert was a priest, and afterwards bishop who retired into solitude and died as a hermit
25th April - St Machalus, Bishop (498)
Machalus was a bishop in the Isle of Man, which then formed part of Scotland.
29th April - St Middan or Madden or Medan
Very little is known of this saint, not even whether male or female.

1st July - St Serf or Serban, Bishop (583)
Serf founded a monastery at Culross in Fife where he brought up and educated St Kentigern.
3rd July - St Killen, Abbot (752)
Killen, also known as Cilléne the Bridgemaker, was the fourteenth Abbot of Iona.
6th July - St Modenna (Medana), Virgin (518)
Modenna founded many monasteries - Edinburgh probably takes its name from this Saint.
7th July - St Palladius, Bishop (c. 430)
Palladius was sent by Pope Celestine I to the Irish and came to Scotland where he founded churches.
11th July - St Drostan, Abbot (c. 630)
St Drostan, a descendant of King Aidan of Dalriada, was Abbot of the Monastery of Deer.
12th July - St Donald, Hermit (c. 716)
Donald is said to have lived in the Glen of Ogilvy, in Forfarshire, living a secluded life for some years.
18th July - The Nine Maidens (8th cent.)
Thee daughters of St Donald, who lived with him in strict seclusion in the Glen of Ogilvy in Angus.
18th July - St Thenew or Thenog (514)
Thenew was the mother of St Kentigern or Mungo and is said to have been befriended by St Serf
22nd July - St Dabius or Bavins, Priest (5th cent) Dabius was a recluse in Weem in Perthshire, where he built a small chapel.
